Bondary Ford Classic : Quarter Final

If you follow us either on Twitter or Facebook, you know what happened: And what happened? It was a hard battle and a heartbreaking loss to Team Sweeting in the quart final earlier today. They were so close, hanging on all match to only slip one point in the last end losing 8-6.

That was Team Bernard last tournament in 2012 and there was a lot of action this weekend with the Canada Cup happening in the same time. Lawton got the berth so she got a spot in the Olympic trial. It's getting close, and tight, and every team want one of those spots, but Team Bernard ain't done fighting!

Bondary Ford Classic

Team Bernard goes to the playoffs after winning their 2 matches Saturday. First one started easy but got a little complicated. They hung on to grab a 8-6 victory. Later on, on the last draw of the day, Team Bernard got their hand full in a great battle against Team Sonnenberg; it took an extra end to seal the deal and our Girls recorded a steal of 2 to grab a 8-6 victory.

Sunday off and Team Bernard will be back on the ice Monday morning at 9.00am (mt).

Team Bernard heads to Lloydminster for their last tournament of 2012. The Bondary Ford classic started with a match they didn't even play. Then, they played Team Shumay of Saskatoon and that was a piece of cake ; a 9-2 win in 6 ends. Tomorrow, Team Bernard will play at 12.30 (mt) and will compete against Team Kaufman. Good Luck Ladies!

In Montreal

Cheryl had never been in MTL and it was the same for Stephanie, the lead of Team Alberta. Malekoff played with Crystal Webster not so long ago, and Lori was part of the same team at the time. She was playing with Desiree Owen for a couple of years but now on maternity leave, Stephanie doesn't have any team at the moment.

Cheryl loved Montreal weather has there isn't any snow, for now.

The statistics kinda speak by themselves.

Tomorrow, I'll do an entry about what I heard and saw and share some pictures.

Mixed scores and stats

Team Alberta finished the round robin with a 5-6 record. Disappointment for sure; at first, they had troubled to read the ice, games were decided by inches. Often, they were trailing and fought back giving them chances.

Mixed Scores and Stats

The first match kinda seal the deal for Alberta and there were no more chance to make it to the playoffs after their loss against Team Quebec but still, they did their best and won against Saskatchewan.

Mixed scores and stats

You arms fell off when you see an team scores 5, especially against your team. Even then, with a 4-1 stats, Team Alberta tried to keep a positive mind and they knew already that the chances to make it to the playoffs were slim and meant that no more loss is affordable. They came back stronger in the afternoon.

Colonial Square Classic

Cheryl and co. didn’t make it to the playoffs this time. Lot of events, lot of curling, at some points you can’t win them all. They battle hard in that last match but Siegrist managed to stay in control in the last end to win 6-5.

Lead, second and third got a break but Bernard heads to MTL for the National Mixed. Montreal means Quebec and Quebec means I’m gonna be there which also means new pictures to share.

Colonial Square Classic

Not an easy day for Team Bernard as they lost their 2 matches. After having a very hard wake up to team Jaeggi losing 9-0, it was a very tough defeat in an extra end to Team Kleibrink that sealed that second day. Hopefully, after a good night rest, Team Bernard will come back stronger for their match tomorrow morning against the Switzerland based team, Team Siegrist.

Colonial Square Classic Update

A lot of matches going on today and the scoreboard seems hard to update. After a while, we finally get the score. First match was early this morning against Team Chisholm and everything went well despite the fact that Shannon could make it for the first match. A 5-1 win! Our lead and coach were stuck in Calgary but manage to make it for the second match. It went really well too, as Team Bernard winning 6-2 over Team Holland.

Team Bernard went to the restaurant for a good meal and will get some precious rest for their next match tomorrow morning against Team Jaeggi.

This Colonial Square Classic edition counts 48 teams and 13 qualifiers. You can feel the importance of grabbing every point as teams go to a tournament to another to climb as high as they can get on the ranking.

Team Bernard is still in the run for a place in the trial but lot of works to do but if a team can do it, it's Team Bernard. You can follow the Colonial Square Classic starts this Friday. You can follow the tournament on Asham World Curling tour Website.

Red Deer Classic

A busy day for Team Bernard; it start early, with a win of 5-3 over Doyle. Later, they loss a tight match to a familiar opponent; Team Webster, 5-4. Moving to the C event, they had to play against Team Eyamie and I got a scare; fortunately, Team Bernard hung on and came back to win 4-3.

So, everything is still possible but no more loss is affordable. 2 matches to win tomorrow to make it to the playoffs. GO GO GO TB!

Red Deer Classic Update

The competition started at 12.15pm for Team Bernard and our girls were competing against Team Wood. Leading 2-0, Team Bernard stumbled a little and the momentum shifted in favor of Wood. Make the final Team Bernard 2 Team Wood 5.

So, moving to the B event, next opponent was Team Rogers: it wasn’t that easy either but they managed to dig in and grabbed this one 4-3.

The Next match is Saturday morning, November 4th, at 9.30am (mt) against Basel-Regio from Switzerland. Let’s go ladies!!!

Olympic Reunion

It was a reunion night for the Olympic quartet last Thursday night during the Gold Medal Plates Dinner in Calgary; A lot of laugh, a lot of great memories, very good food and 4 very good friends.

Glenys Bakker joined Cheryl, Cori, Susan and Carolyn: Glenys played with Shannon Kleibrink for most of her curling career and was her second when they won the bronze medal in the 2006 Olympic Games.

Manitoba Classic : Semi Final

It is on the last rock that the quart final match was sealed – a draw to the pin. Team Bernard won 6-5 against Team Jones and went one step further. The semi final match didn't start so bad, then things got a little complicated and finally they lost 6-3 to Team Homan.

They can go home satisfied, the tournament went really well, they made it to the semi and added 22,000 points to their total. Ladies, well done!!!

A weekend off and then, Team Bernard heads to Red Deer.

Manitoba Lotteries – reaching the playoffs

It wasn’t easy to make it there, but for a third tournament in a row, Team Bernard reached the playoffs. After losing their first match to McCarville 9-2, Team Bernard bounced back with a great win against Team Norberg 5-1 and then they defeated another Swedish Team, Team Sigfridsson 5-4 to get a spot in the playoffs. That last match wasn't that easy either and they had to measure Cheryl's last rock twice. Like FB follower Maureen said "it was that close"!

The quarter final match is at 10.00am (ct) tomorrow morning.

One of our followers asked me to make it clearer that the Team Norberg isn't the same team than the one in the 2010 Olympics. I wasn't so clear before I edited that post but I just meant that it was the same Annette: members of the Team Norberg as we saw it at the Olympics got separate ways after Vancouver.

Manitoba Lotteries

A loss, a win, keeping them into the B event. It wasn't easy in the morning against Team Jones losing 8-3 but they came back stronger after the break to win 6-2 over Team Kaufman. They will play in the morning (9.00am) against Team McCarville.
