Victoria Classic Update

The sixth end gave the momentum to Team Jones in this tight game when Cheryl came really close to make a shot to score a bunch but resulted instead on a steal of one. Team Bernard lost this 4-6 to Jones on what was a very interesting ice.

It was Team Bernard last tournament this year. They finished 8 on the RTCS ranking due to a very strong first half and the battle to get a spot for the Olympics trial is on.

But first, our girls are entering the off season and will certainly enjoy a well deserved rest. I will still post as there are always off ice events happening here and there so stick around for the latest news till the new season starts.

Victoria Classic Update

Well, it was a tough match, and they almost made a great come back trailing 0-4 after 5, they scored 3, stole 1, but Wark got the last one so, Team Bernard fell to 1-1 and must win their game tomorrow if they want to have a chance to make it to the playoff. And that is going to be against Team Jones, skipped by Kaitlyn Lawes since Jennifer isn’t competing this week.

Victoria Classic Update

That was a strange match, and not an easy ice to read at time. Both team made the best they could but at the end, it was Bernard that made it. Make the final Team Bernard 5 team Cathy O 4. Next match at 7.30pm local time against Team Wark.

You knew that you could watch it online, right? Well, if you haven't and want to watch it, you still can see it here.

Mixed Provincial

Well, they were “this” close to win it – with a lead of 6-4 heading in to 10th, we had the right to dream. I was already in Montreal enjoying my week with my favorite cmixed team but shit happened and Balderston came back with a big 3 pointers to win 7-6. Congrats to the winners, but seriously, how I would have like Team Bernard mixed team to win this!!!

By winning their last round robin match, our mixed squad finished at the top of the pool with a 6-1 record. The outcome of this game was decided in the ninth end, when team Bernard scored a big 4 for a 9-5 victory. Regarding the other teams results, Cheryl, Terry, Lori and Engene will go straight to the final and will play either Team Balderston or Team Sallows. The final will be played Sunday at 2.00pm (mt).

Provincial Mixed

Our boys and girls did well today even though they dropped a match because our squad ensure themselves a place in semi. They won their first match of the day-As Lori said last night, it was a squeaker. It seems like a win when Team Park scored a big 3 in the 10th to force an extra – Team Bernard picked up the win on the last rock!

Later on, on a close battle, Team Hansen collected the win with a steal on the last end, first loss for Team Bernard 4-5. They are on the top of the pool with Team Balderston with a 5-1 record and a place in semi.

Next match tomorrow at 9am.

Provincial Mixed

2 more matches today for Team Cheryl Bernard in this mixed competition, and that was a pretty good day too. I exchanged a few words with Lori and Cheryl between the 2 games and that they were having a great time.

In the first match, Cheryl, Terry, Lori and Engene kinda set the pace scoring a big 3 in the second end. Keeping the edge all match, they won 9-4 against Team Simmons. After a break, they went back on the ice – it started slowly, then, they came back stronger, to afterward toned it down a little: they needed an extra end to finally won 10-8 against the only other undefeated team at the times, Team Balderston.

Our squad takes the lead of the pool with a 4-0 record and will be back on the ice tomorrow at 1pm.

Playing in the Provincial Mixed

Cheryl Bernard is teaming up with Lori Olson Johns in the Alberta mixed this week. Team Bernard’s members joined Cheryl’s hubby Terry Meek and Curler Eugene Doherty in the provincial competition that started today.

And it went pretty well with 2 wins – first one in extra end, in which Team Bernard scored the only deuce of the whole game to get away with a 6-4 win over Team Swallows. In their second match, it is the 4 points scored in the seventh end that really set the pace, Cheryl and her squad cruising toward a 8-5 win.

If you wish to follow the competition which end on Sunday, you can, just go here!
